For the Horde!
Feral Instinct

20th May 2009

Clearly its been a slow news year. Nothing much has happened at all. Oh, Blizzard released the long-awaited Wrath of the Lich King Expansion and Vetra released a baby bear. But other than that, nothing much ;)

Edit:   I only went and forgot the FI event of the year, Jukk and Urana's wedding. We held the "official" ceremony atop the highest peak in Dun Murogh, above the secret Dwarven airfield, with much fanfare and rocketry. Belated grats to the both of you!

I'm slowly tweaking this site and hope to give it a more severe overhaul sometime soon. Who knows, we may even see more frequent news snippets in the future!

8 July 2008

After a hiatus from Dark Venom raiding, we are slowly ramping back up with a return to Zul'Aman. Meanwhile, "Jukk's army" are planning their first tentative steps into Kara this week. The virtual "Dark Venom" guild on WoW-Raidar has now expanded to include L70 alts and basically anyone from Feral Instinct that is interested in raiding from Kara onwards.

In other news, we congratulate Lostsoul on his recent arrivals and Liz on being accepted onto her Master's course. Bring on the Stroopwaffles!

A new year is upon us already, making it 3 years since the beta and nearly a year since The Burning Crusade. In the last year alone we've had two marriages and spawned a tadpole and several other critters. This bear is very happy to see that Feral Instinct has come through it all and is thriving as strong as ever.

16 July 2007

Following long discussions, the guild and raid leaders have decided that it is time to establish a separate raiding guild. Dark Venom is the successor to the Tribes Raid coalition and will be 'mains' only, with alts remaining in Feral Instinct, Silent Killers etc. We hope that not only will this better serve the more ambitious members, but also restore some of the quiet (in)sanity that FI has enjoyed in the past.

17 April 2007

Not a lot of news in awhile, cos the bear has become allergic to typing maybe. Anyway, since last update (about a week after it) Raggy was downed; we now have first couple of bosses in Kara chalked off and tonight we finally extracted our revenge on Onyxia and spiked her head on a pole in Orgrimmar!

4 March 2007

Today Tribes finally had its first ever pop at Ragnaros, with a mixed group of 20-25 people ranging from level 57 to 70. In typical style, we got him to 1%. At long last we were able to find a taker for all the pally loot that dropped, as well as a few other purples.

2 March 2007

Well its been a busy time for the Ferals, lots of 70's now but still many quests to do, dungeons unexplored and bosses to kill. The big news is, this week we now made our 100th account in FI. According to WoWCensus, we are now the 6th ranked guild by level value on the Horde side of Thunderhorn.

2 January 2007

The New Year has already brought a double first: A guild 45 min Baron and Tribes downing Hakkar in a single ZG run.

I think its a good point to reflect on how far we have come in the last year. Scroll down to 31st December, 2005 and you'll see that we'd just celebrated gaining a key to UBRS. Members hitting 60 was still big news back then. In February we took down Venny for the very first time as part of our raiding coalition.

Since then we have progressed to being able to kill 8/10 bosses in both ZG and MC plus 4 bosses in AQ20. I hope that this has not come at too high a cost in fun-factor...I think the Guild Xmas Party shows that we still have it in us to be silly!

The New Year will bring us new challenges, going back to old-school levelling up to 70, new 5 man content and a change to smaller, most likely guild-based, raids.

Lets keep the fur flying!

17 November 2006

After a long period of trial and error on the Friday night raiding nights with Tribes, finally progress has been made: We moved passed Geddon, took down Shazzrah and, after some experimenting on Sulfuron, decided to kill the big dog owner Golemagg and succeeded! On the road to Domo now, Tribes is moving on.

10 October 2006

Tribes has been making some pretty good progress of late, with multiple bosses in MC now on farm status, culminating in our greatest achievement in ZG last night: Tribes down Hakkar!

29 September 2006

Yay we did Garr, and with that the first four bosses of MC in one week, as well as giving us some proper loot. Hoping we can get 2 raids a week going so we can soon do Shazzrah and Geddon etc etc!

And news from Sunday night, where an intrepid 24-man tribes team decided to take a first look at Onyxia, getting her down to 58% on the first attempt; A few more practises to hone our tactics, and she's going down!

19 September 2006

More tribes progress last night, as a team of only 32 take down the next MC boss, Gehennas; looking promising for working our way fairly quickly through MC especially if we can get more regular healers with us.

13 September 2006

Last Monday Hakkar met up with a motivated team of Tribes of War Raiding. He Gave us a sample of wht he can do and they got him down to 52% on a third attempt,we all have the feeling this lizard is goin down next time!.

Lots more progress for tribes over last weekend, as an NM/FI run takes down Rajaxx, the second boss in AQ20, and the Sunday night ZG run downs panther+tiger+bat+venoxxis (all on 1st attempts) clearing the way to Spider and Hakkar for this first time for the Monday group :)

Tribes Raiding is finaly moving on....it has taken some time but it looks like we are progressing again. The Panther Aspect in ZulGurub finaly gave up to our relentless tries to kill her.... Grats to our Purple boy for yet another epic weapon!!.

Grats to me on getting my [Frostwolf Howler] epic mount from AV at last. Finally a very happy Tauren riding a huge wolf :)

15 July 2006

A fine day for guild instances today, with some quests done, a few nice drops (esp one wand for Vorpid) and finished off by 4 man Strat UD Baron kill - after the other group member d/c just before the third ziggurat, the remaining four (As, Vorp, Sant and Hurst) went on to kill the abominations, Rammstein and the Baron! :)

26 June 2006

Grats to all in the coalition ZG run last night, as they downed 4 bosses in one run for the first time (Ven, Manny, Marli and Jeklik) and prepare to head back again tonight for the Tiger (and maybe more).

Yesterday the mighty shammy Kintoll and his equaly devastating warrior frog friend Koren cleared the top ring of Sunken Temple together. Kintoll was after the Lolo, Zolo guys for the feathers for his Shaman quest so they teamed up together and pulled it off with only one wipe to speak off...these guys ROCK!! Lol!

13 June 2006

For the second time we were able to run two concurrent ZG groups. The training group came within a whisker of getting Venoxxis down, whilst the other group honed tactics on Marli (Spider Boss) and finished up with giving Mandokir a good smacking. Hurston was the lucky recipient of an epic sword to match Koren's, as well as a bloodvine harvester. A summary of the current DKP can be found here.

Tribes of War downs the first MC boss, Lucifron! Took a few wipes and, on the final successful attempt, 4 dead tanks before we prevailed. Loot included the +55 Healing Power weapon enchant (grats Lani) and a pair of Cenarion Boots (grats me).

The four Cows of the Apocalypse (Asbach, Buxton, Gangreen & Mastejo) raided Stormwind last night and sucessfully took over the Deeprun Tram, posing for photographs with Nessie in the aquarium. Unfortunately, no-one had a Large Seaforium Charge with them with which to collapse the tunnel and thus paralyze the alliance lines of communication. The cows then proceeded to Ironforge, where the 3 druids stealthed into the upstairs bar of the inn and partied the night away, joined by various gnomes, dwarves and elves.

29 May 2006

Tonight saw the fall of our 5th boss in ZG, the arachnid wench. Although we only downed 2 bosses, we had 3 epic items and 2 primals drop. Big grats to Koren on his shiny new sword (shame its not an axe, how can ye be seen out with your fellow frogs carrying a sword?) and Greendevil on his robes.

19 May 2006

The Tribes of War raid group has taken yet another step forward with the downing of the summoned boss Gahzhranka in ZG in a run that saw 3 boss kills without wiping on a single one of them.

In other news, our resident Purple Boy Rax has added to his collection with some groovy violet pantaloons.

16 May 2006

Congratulations to our amphibian warrior on his shiny new and preciousssss ring. A few more 15-min Angerforge runs should see him ready to do battle with the nastiest of mobs (just as long as its not the deadly frog-eating Heron Boss...)

14 May 2006

Another milestone for the Tribes, as we took down Emissary Roman'Khan today, a 40-man boss for The Calling quest, done with 28 of us. A bug unfortunately prevented a few people in the raid from looting his body, so we'll be back to get him again.
Posted by Asbach

Having got Kurinnaxx in AQ down, technically without a wipe, we then went on to another first: The downing of the Bat Lady in ZG. The druids were the biggest winners, with a new rank heal spell for Asbach and a pair of Animist's Spaulders for myself.

Also both Raxorblade and Koren are racing to the epics like flies to...The new patch 1.10 turn in quest for Valor had them flying all over the continents to get their first three set items. Koren is stopping at the belt, gloves and bracers but Raxorblade is looking at the 45 minute Baron now for his legs and chest...anyone for Strat practice lol

Patch 1.10 Storms of Azeroth has been applied...it marks the end of endless 10/15 man raiding on the instances.
The quality of players and groups is put to the test as most of the instances have been capped at 5 man and for UBRS 10 man.As a reward epic gear can be obtained by doing a close to epic questline. It gives our Ferals a couple of new goals to go for beside the Tribes Raiding parties. Check my characters goals on forum for guild activities in the near future.

Our efforts with Tribes of War have taken up a lot of our time ingame lately. We are doing better all the time and have done a first MC run with Unknown Entity guild to muster up our numbers. Got to Luciferon on first go and got the adds down. Meanwhile, ZG runs will continue on Thursdays.
Time to direct our attention within our own guild, coming Sunday full Quest runs on instances yet to be decided on. Visit forum and post your wishes under 'My Characters Goals'.

OK, so it may seem like nothing has been happening for awhile based on the news updates. Truth is, we've just been too busy! Had a couple of alts break the 40 barrier and tonight, its Criptlord's turn. Grats mate, another piece of cannon fodder to throw at the MC bosses ;)
Speaking of high end content, seems we don't need a 20-man raid to enter ZG, 10 is enough in order to do some nice maiming and pillaging. Special grats to Asbach on his [Loaded Dice]...

16 February 2006

On our first attempt at the Princess rescue we made it all the way and completed with only one wipe!! Gratz to Jukkorsis, Buxton, Greendevil and Kintoll for a great run. Hope to do this soon with other guildies since the Emperor has some nice loot...maybe even nice to farm in raid, then it should not take so long (3 hrs last night in 5 man).

Omokk's Fist, a two handed hammer to smack mobs with for Asbach, a Beaststalker Girdle that eventualy will get to Gangreen and Buxton reluctantly accepted the Wildheart shoulders...he'll be parading around with the two dead birds on his shoulders around the dark streets of Ogrimmar...add a skirt and he is one happy puppy.

28 January 2006

Asbach's proposed run of BRD was a success, with help from a Holy Cow Warlock to guide them through the Arena, getting them the Shadowforge key and to the bar. Plenty of quests finished. Koren was invited in the end for Attunement, having a lot of dark iron ore to melt. Dark Iron mail made for Reddevil and Gangreen gets a raincheck for when he becomes 60. Rax got himself some Dark iron shoulders so some MC equipment made. Our armorsmith also bought the honored recipes from the Thorium Brotherhood...another reason to get to MC for cores...someday!

Our new 60's are on a roll! Having no need for frog tanking... they preferred the cow and went forth to roll up Cresent keys for all, the good water for Vorpid, our druid got his Royal Seal and they even finished this in the end without a tank. Not bad for a lazy Sunday.

Hope we all survived Christmas and are ready for a whole new year of trouble and fun in Azeroth. Our guild ranks have seen some nice additions this past year and we seem to be growing as a group. Next year we shall be ready to start full guild raids as we have had a lot of people (and a few up and coming) reach level 60. Looking forward to our runs in the new year.
Have a Happy New Years Eve and be careful...goblin fireworks are only mostly harmless.

Update on the forum issues: Tidesofwar.net has purchased new, more powerful forum software. This is installed but there are problems migrating the old forum databases. It is all tied to MySQL and the new version does not like the old version's MySQL tables (this is a loose interpretation but close enough). The upshot is we will probably have to start afresh, including creating new user logins. Please bear them with during this period; Tidesofwar.net is staffed by volunteers who have day jobs too, and funded largely out of their own pockets.

3 December 2005

Unfortunately, the forums are down again. It seems when the underlying database engine was upgraded, the tables became corrupted. Tidesofwar are aware of the issue and working on a resolution.

Congrats to Deathmaw in taming Ermintrude as a pet. Ermintrude comes with a 2.0 attack speed and is capable of learning a special, group-friendly ability of Bring Beer :)

30 November 2005

Guild celebration time! Since the last update, Asbach has surpassed level 40 and attained 300 in Alchemy; we have a new member, Laphroix, a 60 Tauren Shaman; and last but far from least Raxorblade and Ermintrude hit 60 after dispatching Araj the Summoner in Western Plaguelands.

19th November 2005

Grats on L40 Vorpid (no doubt Asbach won't be far behind) and a belated grats to Vorter on 60 (hey, nobody told me!)

17th November 2005

As you will no doubt have noticed, the site and forums have been offline this week. But now we're back! However, due to a technical hitch, we have lost a few days worth of updates to the news page and roster. I'll be correcting this as time permits.

Also note that I'm away next week, so Koren will be herding you around on his brand new Epic Sheep (grats on that btw Kor;)

Finally for today's update, a raid with a heavy FI presence took down Teremus this evening (screenshot).

16th November 2005

Welcome to the guild Gangreen, a Tauren Hunter to boost our flagging bovine population!

15th November 2005

The first major raid event with Seikou took place in Zul Gurrub tonight. We got to the first boss but were unable to take her down, though I think we learned quite a bit.

10th November 2005

Welcome to the guild Chulaka, a Tauren Druid whose name a few of us will remember from old, and grats to Retrokai for hitting the dizzy heights of 60.

9th November 2005

Grats Greendevil on hitting 60! Now in new improved portable beer chiller (aka frost spec) flavour.

6th November 2005

Welcome to the guild Linnia and Retrokai, both Shaman, and Haphestous, a Druid! Congratulations are also in order for Hurston who has surpassed level 40 and in doing so earned promotion to Naik.

Whilst the planned MC comedy club was postponed in the end, we did have an epic run through BRD along with a couple of guys from <Redemption> (former <Ranger> members). Loot was good and there were no wipes - we are getting better!

3rd November 2005

Note that the Tides of War server which hosts our site and forums is scheduled for some maintenance over the next couple of days, which may involve extended downtime. Just have to play instead! Speaking of which, a reminder that Sunday is the Joint Guilds Molten Core Wipe Fest.

6th October 2005

Working our way up the dungeons, our "lowbie" group smote our way through Wailing Caverns. A couple of nice shield drops for the shammies and a single Fang set drop...we'll be back for more!

On the way out we picked up Hurston, a Troll Warrior, who has now joined our ranks.

4th October 2005

We bid au revoir to our top frog-featured shammy, Kintoll, but its not goodbye - he will be back come Xmas, greener than ever!

2nd October 2005

New faces over the weekend are Jid, an Undead mage, and Rexan, a Troll Shaman. Rexan (along with Basha, Staggart and Shardagus) is a Horde alt of a character in the ElvenLore guild.

Some of our "lowbies" - Asbach, Bluedevil, Rexan and Buxton(!) - went on a rampage through Ragefire Chasm, with only one wipe (oops). Perhaps not really illustrative of what an instance run is normally like...

27th September 2005
